Engine 1

Meet Engine 1 – Our Busiest Fire Truck!

Built in 2010, Engine 1 is the backbone of our fire department, responding to more calls than any other truck in our fleet. As North River Fire Department’s (NRFD) main pumper and first-response vehicle, it’s the first out the door for nearly every emergency.

Engine 1 carries 1,000 gallons of water and is equipped with a 1,250-gallon-per-minute (GPM) Hale pump, ensuring strong and steady water pressure when it’s needed most. It has three pre-connected hose lines and multiple outlets, making it highly versatile for firefighting operations. Some of the key hose setups on board include a Minuteman load, which can be deployed from either side, and a Double Donut Bumper load for quick access. The engine can be supplied with water from either a hydrant or a tanker, allowing us to maintain a reliable water source even in rural areas.

Beyond firefighting, Engine 1 is also fully equipped for rescue and medical emergencies. It carries Medical First Responder (MFR) bags for treating patients on scene and a Combination Extraction Tool, which serves as both a cutter and spreader for vehicle extrications. The truck also carries a variety of spare adapters and firefighting tools, ensuring we’re prepared for any situation.

No matter the emergency, Engine 1 is ready to roll when our community needs us most! 🚒💨
